Andreas Brunner (f. 1988, Zürich) er myndlistarmaður búsettur í Reykjavík. Hann stundaði nám við Listháskólann í Lucerne og lauk meistaranámi í myndlist við Listaháskóla Íslands.

Andreas vinnur með fjölbreytta miðla, svo sem innsetningar, vídeó og skúlptúr. Síendurteknar aðgerðir, tilgangsleysi og húmorískur absúrdismi, nánast melankólískur myndar kjarna verka hans. Hann skoðar ýmis afbrigði merkingarsköpunar og hvernig menning þróast í tengslum við  ólínulegan tíma. Þrá, eirðarleysi og hverfulleiki eru meðal þeirra viðfangsefna sem birtast í verkum hans, og þá sérstaklega hvernig þessi fyrirbæri endurspegla tilveruna og móta skynjun okkar á samtímanum.

Verk Andreasar hafa verið sýnd víða í Evrópu, meðal annars á Listasafni Reykjavíkur, Nýlistasafninu, Kling og Bang, Gerðarsafni og Norræna húsinu í Reykjavík (IS), Kunsthal Charlottenborg í Kaupmannahöfn (DK), 3_137 Exhibition Space í Aþenu (GR), U10 Art Space í Belgrad (RS), Kunstmuseum Luzern í Luzern, akku Kunstplattform í Emmenbrücke og Benzeholz – Raum für zeitgenössische Kunst í Meggen (CH) og Künstlerhaus Bethanien í Berlín (DE).

Andreas Brunner (b.1988, Zurich) is a visual artist based in Reykjavik. He studied fine arts at Lucerne University of Applied Science and Arts, and completed his MA studies in fine arts at the Iceland University of the Arts in Reykjavik.

Andreas practice spans a wide spectrum of mediums, such as installation, video and sculpture. Repetitive actions, senselessness, and humorous absurdity – bordering on melancholy are recurring motifs throughout his works. His practice engages with speculative cultural development, the dynamics and systems of meaning, as well as our relationship to a non-linear expansion of time. Themes such as longing, restlessness and transience are often evoked in his works, particular focusing on how these conditions recount existence and influence the perception of the present. 

Andreas’ works have been exhibited at various venues across Europe, including Reykjavík Art Museum, Nýlistasafnið, Kling og Bang, Gerðarsafn Art Museum and the Nordic House in Reykjavík (IS), Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen (DK), 3_137 Exhibition Space in Athens (GR), U10 Art Space in Belgrade (RS), Kunstmuseum Luzern in Lucerne, akku Kunstplattform in Emmenbrücke and Benzeholz – Raum für zeitgenössische Kunst in Meggen (CH), and Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin (DE).
